Naming my work
Hello everyone. An update on what I am doing. I completed another piece for my Fantastical Roots series. This one is called Harollynyth.
Harollynyth. You might be wondering where I am coming up with these names. I want to name each piece as if the root itself is a being, a monster, creature, Rootman or whatever you want to call it - kind of like how in Lord of the Rings the tree people called the Ents each have names: like Treebeard. I guess my names fall in line with sounding like elven names from a fantasy setting. I completely make them up but I feel like I am developing a pattern for how I am naming these. I am also thinking about names from H.P. Lovecraft and how he names his monsters, great old ones and Gods - Azathoth, Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, and Cthulhu to name a few. I hope you can appreciate the names as my Roots take shape to lurk on in the forest.
On another note, I will be heading to Florida for vacation in a week and I plan to gather more root inspiration while I am there. I know those forests and swamps have some crazy root systems. I am excited to see what lurks down in the depths!
